Close to the entrance South of Berlins exhibition center Siemens presented for the first time its home appliances at Home Appliances@IFA08. MESO Digital Interiors created four exhibits and an interactive table integrated in the spacious and futuristic exhibition booth to introduce Siemens latest trends to the public. One of the highlight certainly was our interactive table presenting Siemens World of Coffee to the public. But also the other four exhibitions contributed to the innovative flair of the booth.
MESO Digital Interiors developed an interactive table for Siemens at Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin 2008 for the presentation of Siemens new coffee maker.
For the home laundry area MESO created an exhibit to display the latest innovations for washing machines. A shirt was fixed in a water basin. Computer controlled air pumps at the bottom of the exhibit pumped bubbles in the exhibit to simulate the washing program. A back projection applied various colorful virtual stains on the shirt. Through 16 touch sensors behind glass the visitor could not only choose the kind of stain but also the adequate washing program to remove this stain from the shirt.
The dish washer exhibit worked similar to the Home Laundry exhibit. Plates were fixed on a vertical surface. Water was pumped over the tables to simulate the washing process. Touch sensors allowed to select different animations on the tables showing the benefits of Siemens latest products.
To demonstrate the effect of Siemens latest innovation Zeolith – a substance accelerating the drying process – a high definition monitor was installed in one of the booth walls. By pressing and releasing a touch sensor, the monitor allowed the visitors to explore the effectiveness of Zeolith.
The latest no-frost innovation was demonstrated with the help of a cooled interactive touch foil applied to one of the booth walls and a backward projection. The image and information displayed feeled cold and frozen till a visitor touched the interactive foil and “melted” the virtual ice away to gain a look on the information.
All exhibits were controlled by separate computers. The software used for the controlling of projection, capacitive touch screens and computer was the multipurpose toolkit vvvv.
